Who are the coaches for BlueClaw? BlueClaw coaches are non-paid volunteers who know and teach the fundamentals of the game. Our coaches stress character, hard work, discipline and sportsmanship. What is BLUE CLAW BASEBALL? BLUE CLAW BASEBALL is a youth baseball organization created to provide a quality, low cost, tournament baseball alternative for MBDY league players. By coordinating time, fields and resources with MBDY, BlueClaw Baseball allows players the opportunity to participate in both events. Do BlueClaw players have to play league ball? No, BlueClaw, as an alternative to other tournament teams, is an organization that recognizes the importance of league play in the community. While we work hard to create an environment for both tournament and league play, the decision to play league is made by the player and parents. Do all BlueClaw players have to reside in Moss Bluff? No, we have players from Moss Bluff and the surrounding area. It is our intent to provide an opportunity for Moss Bluff players but the team is ultimately decided by the relative abilities of the group. We do target having at least two-thirds (2/3) of a team's players from Moss Bluff and the final team composition depends on the team's needs and player's abilities. Do any BlueClaw teams desire to play in the Major classification? Yes we have the desire to play with the best but our goal is a competitive baseball environment that enables the player to develop both his character and skills. We seek to expose the player to both success and adversity in a competitive team environment. Thus, classification of team play is not as important to BLUECLAW BASEBALL as the player's development. Do the BlueClaw teams have tryouts? Tryouts are preferred but it depends on the team. Some teams are returning teams and do not have a need for tryouts. Some teams may have only one or two open roster spots and fill those selectively based on needs and those that have expressed interest. How many games do the BlueClaw teams play? BlueClaw teams can be expected to play between 25 and 60 games per year with a determining factor being player participation in league all stars. What is the cost to play BlueClaw? By design BlueClaw is a quality, low cost organization. With volunteer coaches all monies are directed to equipment, uniforms and tournament play. We charge a small player fee and raise funds through fundraising events and sponsorships. There are no paid workers in the BlueClaw organization. Are there any team rules? Yes, we have both TEAM rules and PARENT rules for all BlueClaw participants. It is our intent to help not only develop the player's baseball skills but also assist with character development. Thus both the TEAM and PARENT rules are very important and are expected to be adhered to throughout the season. How do I contact BlueClaw Baseball? Email tim@blueclawbaseball.com
